Job Summary
Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General helps maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus under the Store Manager’s direction. Responsibilities include supervising store employees, managing merchandise presentation and planograms, handling deposits and cash control, stocking and cashiering, training staff, scheduling, safety meetings, and ensuring policy compliance. Open/close the store at least two days a week, maintain inventory accuracy, and assist in store operations in the Store Manager’s absence. Requires strong customer service, communication, problem-solving, organizational skills, and the ability to perform cash register functions and deposits.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
- One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations and cash handling procedures
