Job Summary
Assistant Store Manager position at Dollar General in Lexington, KY. Responsibilities include providing superior customer service leadership, operating the cash register and scanner, opening/closing the store a minimum of two days per week, assisting with employee scheduling and training, maintaining merchandise planograms and displays, managing inventory accuracy, enforcing cash control procedures, and assisting in store management in the Store Manager's absence. Requires high school diploma or equivalent (strongly preferred), about 1 year of retail experience and at least 6 months of supervisory experience. Skills include cash handling, planograms compliance, inventory control, customer service, cashier accountability, deposits, safety and security practices, and strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience in a retail environment
- Six months supervisory experience
- Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control
- Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
- Good organization skills with attention to detail
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
