Job Summary
The Kindergarten Assistant will provide academic, socio-emotional, and/or behavioral support at the direction of the kindergarten teacher. Responsibilities include instructional and supervisory duties with students one-on-one, in small groups, or with the whole class. Reports to the principal and kindergarten teacher(s). Specific duties include preparing instructional materials, providing planning time for teachers (including outdoor activities, rhythm activities, and story time), lunchroom assistance, and supervising routines such as dismissal. This role emphasizes adaptability, dependability, cooperation, and civility to support district expectations and individual student needs.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Passed the ParaPro Test with a score of 457 or higher
- Experience: Experience working with young children preferred
- Language Skills: Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; writes simple correspondence; effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Mathematical Skills: Adds and subtracts two-digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s; uses American money and related measurements
