Job Summary
Assistant Head Facilities Serviceperson (Elementary/Middle School/Exceptional Child Center) responsible for assisting the head custodian and supervising/participating in the cleaning program to maintain cleanliness, orderliness, appearance and safety of facilities. Duties include reviewing work, instructing staff on proper use of supplies/equipment/safety procedures, performing Facilities Serviceperson duties, activating/monitoring boilers and HVAC equipment, climbing ladders to change light bulbs and perform minor repairs, ensuring security before departure, identifying equipment and maintenance needs, coordinating with supervisors, covering head custodian duties during vacations, maintaining safety, participating in training to improve skills, completing projects with accurate time/materials recording, performing heavy physical tasks and lifting up to 55 pounds, staying informed on developments related to job responsibilities, following safety procedures, and fulfilling other duties as assigned by principal/administrators.
Required Qualifications
- Standard high school diploma or GED
- Three (3) years of industrial, commercial, or educational facility experience
- Ability to follow standard custodial practices
- Ability to act as Head Custodian in absence
- Ability to plan and direct the work of others and prepare work programs and schedules
- Knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment
- Energy conservation knowledge
- Ability to climb and work from ladders
- Ability to operate heavy-duty cleaning equipment
- Completion of the Professional and Master Facilities Service job-related training program prior to applying
- Computer skills
