Job Summary
Assistant 6 Hour Student Nutrition handles the preparation, serving, and cashiering of federal reimbursable meals and a la carte foods under supervision. Responsibilities include preparing, cooking, and serving hot and cold items with proper portion sizes, maintaining serving lines, checking food temperatures and taking corrective action as needed, handling cash and checks, documenting meal components and emergency transactions, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., HACCP). The role requires friendly customer service, accurate records for production and cash procedures, upkeep of storage areas and equipment, and contribution to a cooperative team environment. Demonstrates dependability, punctuality, professional appearance, and basic computer skills as part of district policies and equal opportunity practices.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in kitchen or cooking
- Ability to follow safety and hygiene procedures (HACCP)
- Ability to handle cash and checks accurately
- Ability to document production records and meal components
- Ability to work under supervision and maintain professional conduct
- Reads, writes, and speaks basic English
