Job Summary
The Associate Veterinarian provides primary clinical care for all animals and is on-call for emergency duty. Responsibilities include overseeing the Animal Health Department's daily operations, maintaining veterinary medical records, providing preventative medicine, and assisting with compliance to regulations. The role requires collaboration with staff from various departments and external institutions to ensure optimal animal care. Candidates must hold a DVM or VMD, have a Georgia veterinary license, and possess at least three years of experience in zoo/aquatic animal medicine.
Required Qualifications
- DVM or VMD degree from an accredited college of veterinary medicine
- Georgia veterinary license or ability to obtain one within three months
- Minimum of three years of experience in zoo/aquatic animal medicine
- Minimum of three years of work experience in an AZA accredited institution
- Above average leadership skills
- Effective problem analysis and resolution skills
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products and standard PC operating systems
Desired Qualifications
- USDA/APHIS accreditation type II
- SCUBA certification or the ability to become certified
- Valid passport or the ability to obtain one
