Job Summary
Lead and manage indirect tax implementation and compliance projects within ERP systems (e.g., SAP). Analyze business requirements and translate them into indirect tax process specifications. Configure and customize indirect tax functionalities (e.g., VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax) in ERP systems to meet regulatory and business needs. Provide expert guidance on indirect tax processes including tax determination, calculation, reporting, and reconciliation. Conduct training sessions and workshops for finance teams, tax departments, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, IT, and external tax advisors to ensure accurate tax processing and reporting. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to indirect tax configurations and transactions. Prepare documentation including tax process flows, configuration guides, and compliance manuals. Stay updated with the latest indirect tax regulations and ERP advancements to recommend improvements and ensure compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field
- 5–7 years of experience in indirect tax within ERP systems
- Extensive experience and proficiency in indirect tax configuration within ERP systems (preferably SAP)
- Strong understanding of global indirect tax regulations (e.g., VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax)
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA or other ERP platforms
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Preferred: Experience with integration of indirect tax with other ERP modules like FICO, SD, and MM
- Knowledge of tax engines such as Vertex, Sovos, or Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE
- Understanding of ABAP or other ERP scripting for debugging and minor enhancements
- Previous leadership or project management experience within indirect tax projects
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tax technology transformation initiatives
