Job Summary
Assist in analyzing risk information, including property schedules, loss experience, and exposure data, to support underwriting decisions for Michigan public schools. Support the processing of new business and renewal accounts by preparing underwriting files, documentation, and proposals under senior staff guidance. Evaluate risk characteristics unique to public entities, generate policy-related documents, and collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate data analysis and timely service delivery. Ensure all work aligns with established underwriting guidelines and procedures while communicating with members to address coverage inquiries.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or related insurance experience
- Foundational understanding of underwriting concepts or insurance principles
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Developing analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to learn and develop underwriting expertise
- Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance
Desired Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in insurance, underwriting, or a related field
