Job Summary
Lead studies, concept development, and detailed design for bulk materials handling systems across mining, ports, and industrial infrastructure projects. Provide technical leadership in designing receiving, transferring, and storage systems, including conveyors, train loadouts, and complex machines. Develop safe, efficient solutions with a focus on iron ore operations, utilizing first principles and specialist software for conveyor design. Oversee material-flow analysis and DEM simulations for chute design while integrating mechanical, structural, civil, and electrical inputs to deliver constructible project solutions. Build trusted client relationships, lead technical discussions, and mentor engineers through study and project execution phases.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in bulk materials handling projects, particularly within the iron ore, mining or heavy industrial sectors
- Strong technical expertise in conveyor systems, transfer chutes, receiving, transfer, storage and stockyard equipment and complex materials handling machines
- Proven experience leading studies and trade-off assessments, as well as feasibility studies and detailed engineering packages
- Practical experience with conveyor design software and the application or review of DEM simulations for chute design
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams and deliver high-quality multidisciplinary outcomes
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with professional accreditation appropriate to a senior technical role
