Job Summary
The Associate Superintendent of Elementary Schools provides strategic leadership and supervision to elementary school principals to ensure high student achievement, effective operations, and district-wide continuous improvement. Responsible for developing and evaluating school leaders, overseeing school improvement efforts, monitoring academic and organizational performance, and ensuring effective curriculum, instruction, assessment, and student support systems. Collaborates with district departments, families, community partners, and stakeholders to align resources with district goals, using data-driven decision-making and a differentiated system of support and accountability to promote excellence and compliance with laws, policies, and district expectations. Work includes leadership development, maintaining a leadership pipeline, coordinating recruitment and onboarding of principals, and communicating district priorities to the Board, families, and partners. Requires an NMPED Level III-B Administrative License (or eligible) and a Master’s Degree in Education; Doctorate preferred; minimum five years as a principal with district-level leadership experience preferred. Must stay current on research, best practices, legislation, and emerging trends in school leadership and organizational improvement.
Required Qualifications
- NMPED Level III-B Administrative License or eligible
- Master's Degree in Education from an accredited college or university
- Doctorate Degree in Education or related field preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a highly effective school principal
- district-level leadership experience preferred
- Demonstrated record of significantly improving student achievement, attendance, school climate, and overall school performance
- Proven ability to lead school improvement efforts through the effective use of summative, interim, benchmark, formative, attendance, behavior, and social-emotional data
- Demonstrated ability to develop, support, supervise, and evaluate school leaders while creating the conditions necessary for high-performing Professional Learning Communities
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional development, program evaluation, school improvement, and personnel supervision
- Skilled in organizational leadership, change management, strategic planning, and continuous improvement processes
- Proven record of building strong partnerships with students, families, staff, community organizations, and other stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with district leadership and personnel across all departments and organizational levels
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to public education and school administration
- Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational, project management, conflict resolution, and team-building skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize technology to support leadership, communication, data analysis, and organizational effectiveness
