Job Summary
The Associate Store Manager at United Dairy Farmers supports the Store Manager and takes on similar responsibilities, especially during the Store Manager's absence. The ASM is accountable for delivering excellent guest experiences, managing store operations, training associates, and maintaining store conditions. Responsibilities include coaching staff, overseeing guest interactions, managing store administration tasks, handling POS operations, stocking merchandise, ensuring store safety, and complying with regulations and company policies. The role requires leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced retail environment.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to speak, hear and understand spoken English effectively with customers.
- Ability to see and operate store equipment including POS terminal and gas console.
- Ability to understand operating instructions for store equipment.
- Ability to prepare DipSide items using supplies located in the dip cabinets.
- Ability to handle coins, currency, checks, credit transactions, coupons and food stamps, and accurately make change.
- Ability to recognize numbers, count and do arithmetic well enough to complete required records.
- Ability to move merchandise from storage to shelves/displays/freezers/milk box.
- Ability to clean counters and other surfaces.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to temperatures as low as –30 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 2 minutes.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to temperatures as low as +33 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 10 minutes.
- Ability to raise at least 10 pounds from floor level to a height of 5 feet.
- Ability to place an 8” x 10” x 10” package weighing 21 pounds into a dip cabinet, the top of which is 3 feet above the floor.
- Ability to coach, teach and train associates on key store operating processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with associates and guests.
- Ability to effectively recruit and select candidates for store roles.
- Ability to make quick decisions and work in a rapid-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
Additional Requirements
- Must be legally qualified under applicable state laws to conduct all sales transactions including alcohol and tobacco sales.
