Job Summary
Associate role on the Structured and Securitized Products (SSPA) team focused on supporting the origination, structuring, and execution of securitization transactions, with emphasis on Residential Mortgage (RESI) products. Responsibilities include executing operational activities for the Residential Mortgage business, collaborating on financing, settlement, portfolio monitoring and cash management, training and supervising junior staff, designing controls and procedures, building relationships with deal teams and external parties, risk evaluation of collateral pools and transaction structures, and partnering with Technology to enhance platform capabilities. Candidate should bring a finance/economics/tech background, strong analytical and communication skills, detail orientation, and proficiency in Excel (with SQL or AI-query ability preferred). The role requires staying aligned with CIBC’s governance, data security policies, and cross-functional collaboration across treasury, risk, legal, and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Science, Technology, Engineering or Math
- MBA or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a directly related field
- At least 5 years of directly related experience in corporate finance theory, financial analysis, and valuation techniques
- Strong writing and oral communication skills
- Ability to train and oversee analyst-level individuals in an operations-centric environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; SQL experience or ability to leverage AI tools to write database queries preferred
