Job Summary
Associate Scientist 1 sought to support antibody discovery, engineering, and developability characterization within Xencor’s Protein Sciences & Technology group. The role involves hands-on execution of cell-based, multi-color flow cytometry, and biophysical assays to inform lead selection, plus contributing to data analysis, reporting, and automation-driven workflow improvements. The candidate will collaborate on cross-functional project teams, prepare study reports for regulatory submissions, and may oversee work at contract laboratories. Ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and 6+ years of related lab experience (with 4+ years in industry; MS with related experience is preferred), strong communication and organizational skills, and experience with mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, high-throughput assays, and data automation tools.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, cell biology, immunology or related field
- at least 6 years related laboratory experience
- at least 4 years industry experience
- MS degree with at least 4 years related experience and 2 years industry experience preferred
- strong collaboration and communication skills
- ability to work independently and in matrixed teams
- experience with mammalian cell culture and flow cytometry
- experience with high-throughput assay workflows and data analysis tools
- ability to troubleshoot and optimize assays
- attention to detail and robust data documentation
- safety and biosafety knowledge
- ability to work some weekends/evenings
- proficiency with MS Office and job-relevant software
- leadership/people-management experience preferred
