Associate Sales Agronomist

Job Summary
Associate Sales Agronomist role focused on learning to manage and prioritize a customer/prospect list to identify opportunities for growth, maintain and expand sales with existing customers, document sales activities in a CRM, and train farmers and coworkers on technology products. Responsibilities include coordinating soil sampling and yield checks for present and new customers, assisting with sales calls and recommendations (fertilizer, chemicals, seed, tillage, crop consulting), collaborating with other departments, resolving product/service complaints, and developing account plans to achieve desired customer results. The role requires earning IA/NE CCA certification and pesticide-licensing certifications (Core, 1A-Weeds, 1B-Insects, 1C-Diseases, 4-Seed Treatment), valid driver’s license, willingness to travel to other Heartland Co-op locations, and strong analytical, communication, and customer-service competencies.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Math ability to work with fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry; fractions, percentages, ratios.
- Reasoning ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, accounting, and precision ag software.
- CCA certification and pesticide licensing certifications (Core, 1A-Weeds, 1B-Insects, 1C-Diseases, 4-Seed Treatment).
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and commercial insurability at all times.
