Job Summary
Associate Researcher to contribute to transport emissions, electrification, and decarbonisation strategies for road transport in India. Responsibilities include collecting, cleaning, analyzing large datasets and translating findings into technical outputs and policy-relevant insights; co-authoring research reports, briefing papers, and presentations; managing projects with diverse partners to ensure successful delivery; maintaining productive relationships with academic experts, civil society, industry, and government officials in India; communicating ICCT work clearly; and traveling domestically as required to support field activities, stakeholder engagement, project implementation, and dissemination. Requires a master’s degree or PhD in relevant field, strong quantitative and analytical skills, experience with data analysis software (R, Python), familiarity with vehicle emissions testing or regulatory frameworks (preferred), and strong English communication skills.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in mechanical/automobile engineering, environmental engineering, transport studies, or related field
- Minimum two years of full-time professional experience in transportation, emissions, environment and/or policy
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and research skills with experience with large datasets, analysis, and technical writing
- Familiarity with vehicle emissions testing or regulatory frameworks (strongly preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Proficiency with MS Office and data analysis software (e.g., R, Python)
- Experience working with public agencies, regulatory bodies, testing agencies, or policy stakeholders in India (preferred)
- Ability to connect research to policy and translate technical information to stakeholders
- Willingness to travel domestically within India and internationally
- Based in New Delhi; some domestic and international travel may be required
