Job Summary
Build and design scalable web components for large-scale genomic data analysis in a web browser, integrate capabilities from multiple systems to create seamless user experiences, and work with domain researchers to understand needs and implement web-based capabilities using Vue.js, REST APIs, and related technologies. Collaborate in small teams, explore new technologies, contribute ideas, and grow technical and collaborative skills within a Penn State research group focusing on genomics software like Galaxy and AnVIL. Education requires Ph.D. or active candidacy; strong JS, Python, Bootstrap, Git/GitHub, CI tools skills are required; experience with genomics basics is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree, or active candidate for terminal degree, in computer science or related field
- Knowledge of a modern JavaScript framework and ecosystem, Bootstrap, Git + GitHub, CI tools; familiarity with Python and REST APIs
- great communication skills; familiarity with genomics concepts is preferred
