Job Summary
Calibrate all radiation therapy equipment and conduct routine quality control procedures on treatment devices. Verify proper operation and safety of machines and sources in accordance with established guidelines, while assisting the Medical Physicist with annual machine QA and field service compliance. Perform spot checks on technical data from simulation through treatment to ensure plan accuracy, and help plan radiation treatments including brachytherapy source inventories and leak tests. Design and fabricate special ancillary equipment such as immobilization devices and compensating filters. Follow all radiation safety standards and regulatory requirements, and participate in ongoing protocol studies. Complete board certification within four years of hire.
Required Qualifications
- PHD in Physics or other relevant PHD
- Board eligibility for the American Board of Radiology, American Board of Medical Physics or equivalent
- Completion of Board Certification for the American Board of Radiology, American Board of Medical Physics or equivalent within four years of hire date
- Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
- Ability to rely on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
- Ability to communicate and understand the verbal and written English language
- Display of a positive attitude
