Associate Project Officer- Statistics

Job Summary
Associate Project Officer- Statistics will perform statistical analysis of research data, create database structures for data storage, develop sampling plans, support development of research tools, write code in R and Python to automate analysis, perform psychometric analyses (e.g., CTT, IRT), align statistical analysis with research designs, support data collection methods, provide programmatic coordination for assessment studies, and prepare technical and analytical reports. The role supports various institute-wide activities and involves collaboration within UNESCO MGIEP’s Programme Design and Evaluation Team, with emphasis on data-driven policy recommendations and education-for-peace initiatives. The contract is for 12 months with potential extension and a probation period of 6 months; advanced degree in statistics/data science is required and English plus Hindi proficiency is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced University degree (equivalent to a Master’s) in statistics, applied statistics (population studies, biostatistics, education, etc.), or data science
- Up to 2 (two) years of professional experience related to statistical data analysis, psychometrics, sampling, and report writing in the field of education, or social sciences
- Demonstrated skills in using statistical packages such as R, Python, MatLab, etc.
- Demonstrated advanced skills in using Microsoft Excel
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Integrity, reliability, accountability, and a sense of commitment in the execution of duties
- Excellent coordination and organizational skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of quantitative research designs and methods
- LANGUAGES: Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken). Working Knowledge of Hindi
