Job Summary
Direct the Community Development Law Clinic by supervising and mentoring law students in the competent and ethical representation of non-profit organizations and small urban entrepreneurs. Provide clients with comprehensive professional consulting services to help them establish and operate businesses and programs. Teach experiential courses that integrate legal doctrine, professional skills, ethics, and reflective practice while delivering timely, constructive feedback on student performance. Maintain expertise in community development law and commit to access to justice and serving historically underserved populations. Requires a J.D. degree, bar admission, and demonstrated teaching excellence and scholarly record.
Required Qualifications
- An earned Juris Doctor degree
- Member in good standing of the Bar of the District of Columbia or other state
- Potential for teaching excellence and scholarly growth
- Demonstrated professional competence in the relevant field
- Potential for professional growth
- Ability to supervise and mentor law students in the competent and ethical representation of clients
- Expertise in the substantive area of law relevant to the clinic and the delivery of high-quality legal services
- Ability to teach experiential courses that integrate legal doctrine, professional skills, ethics, and reflective practice
- Ability to provide timely, constructive feedback and assess student performance using clear learning outcomes
- Commitment to access to justice, community engagement, and serving historically underserved populations
- At least three years of full-time teaching experience at an accredited law school
- Satisfactory background investigation
