Job Summary
Associate, Professional, P2, Product Support & Services ISG in Japan Syndicate Operations supports Japan Equity GCM deals, including IPOs and secondary blocks, by handling front-to-back syndicate transactions for major clients. The role involves direct liaison with internal clients (IBD/GCM, Corporate Finance, LCD) and external clients, managing deal requirements and settlement coordination, and collaborating with Legal, Compliance and Treasury. The team emphasizes risk management, guardianship of the deal process, and close coordination with global counterparts (Hong Kong, EMEA, Mumbai, US). It requires knowledge of the Japan equity market and mechanics of settling Equity and Convertible Bond products, with full training provided on Syndicate products, and a strong emphasis on communication, leadership, and relationship-building across multiple stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal clients (IBD/GCM, Corporate Finance, LCD) and external clients (issuing companies, selling shareholders)
- Experience with Equity settlements in the Japan market
- Understanding of the firm’s booking systems and processes (beneficial)
- Ability to manage all aspects of the new issuance process from structuring through to closing
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- High level of risk awareness and judgment to escalate issues and protect the franchise
- Ability to work as part of a team and share knowledge
- Ability to chair meetings with senior attendees and clearly explain complex processes
- Fluency in articulating and communicating complex deal mechanics and relationships
- Knowledge of internal controls, governance, and compliance considerations
