Associate Principle Scientist, Immunopeptidomics
$142,378–$213,566 year
On-site · Gaithersburg, Maryland, United States
Job Summary
Associate Principal Scientist leads immunopeptidomics efforts within Dynamic Omics, overseeing MS-based workflows from sample prep to data interpretation, and driving cross-functional collaborations across drug discovery programs. The role emphasizes scientific leadership, development of novel immunopeptidomics workflows (MHC I/II peptide isolation, advanced LC-MS/MS strategies on timsTOF and/or Orbitrap), data analysis and bioinformatics (de novo sequencing, DIA quantification, MHC binding prediction), AI/ML integration, and mentorship of junior scientists. The candidate will represent immunopeptidomics capabilities to stakeholders, manage external collaborations, publish results in high-impact journals, and contribute to strategic scientific direction across therapeutic areas. Education requires a PhD with 5+ years of relevant experience; strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, immunology, proteomics, or a relevant discipline
- 5+ years of extensive relevant scientific experience in immunopeptidomics or closely related mass spectrometry-based fields with a track record of independent project delivery and scientific leadership
- Deep expertise in all aspects of MHC peptide immunopeptidomics workflows (MHC class I and/or class II)
- Extensive hands-on experience with high-resolution LC-MS/MS platforms (timsTOF and/or Orbitrap-based systems) including method development, optimization, and troubleshooting
- Proven expertise in immunopeptidomics data analysis approaches (de novo sequencing, MHC binding prediction, multi-omics integration)
- Ability to evaluate and apply AI/machine learning tools to immunopeptidomics research problems
- Programming proficiency for custom data analysis, visualization, and pipeline development
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects from conception to publication with limited supervision
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals; experience mentoring junior scientists
- Experience initiating and managing internal and external collaborations, cross-functional teams, and effective scientific communication
- Background in applying immunopeptidomics to support drug discovery (target identification, antigen presentation profiling, or therapeutic monitoring)
