Job Summary

Manage the principal's secretarial services, including establishing files, editing publications, and preparing district reports. Interact daily with parents, volunteers, students, and staff while supervising the office area and organizing large events like assemblies and open houses. Handle payroll paperwork, substitute teacher logistics, and newsletter production. Maintain school displays and support staff with keys, time requests, and short-term contracts. Work eight hours daily in a school environment, managing frequent interruptions and representing the school professionally.

Required Qualifications

  • GED or High School diploma
  • Knowledge in the operation of computers--word processing, database, spreadsheet applications, and e-mail
  • Fluency in Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of or willingness to Infinite Campus, Time Clock Manager, Frontline
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and initiate responsibility
  • Successful experience in a responsible secretarial position with experience in working with large numbers of students, parents and staff
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Knowledge of office machines-fax, scanner, and copy machine
  • Telephone skills, which are polite, tactful, and efficient
  • Demonstrate proficiency in typing and other office skills
  • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions
  • Willingness to assume responsibility
  • Ability to work with staff, students, and public
  • Capable of representing the school in a professional manner, which is not limited to confidentiality, communication skills, dress
  • Willing to participate in ongoing training
  • Must be able to stand
  • Must be able to walk
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle and/or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Must be able to talk and hear
  • Must be able to squat, stoop or kneel
  • Must be able to reach above the head and forward 0 to 24 inches and on occasion up to 36 inches

  • Must be able to frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0 to 12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet
  • Must be able to push/pull items such as tables and carts
  • Must have close vision
  • Must have color vision
  • Must have the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday
  • Must be able to work in different areas of the building including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising students during indoor and outdoor activities
