Job Summary
Associate Principal / Principal candidate will lead and grow SGH's Fire Engineering Division within EMI, leveraging expertise in fire protection engineering (fire dynamics, structural fire engineering, CFD, risk and reliability, forensics, materials science) to deliver code consulting and fire life safety services. Responsibilities include developing business relationships, marketing, project management, coordinating and executing projects of varying sizes, mentoring staff, and collaborating with SGH practice areas. The role is based in Washington DC with national project scope, supported by SGH's national team and in-house labs, and involves leadership in professional committees and contributions to journals/publications.
Required Qualifications
- Master of Science, Master of Engineering, or Doctorate in Fire Protection Engineering or related field preferred (required at advanced level)
- 15+ years of professional experience in fire protection engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Demonstrated ability to develop client relationships and generate revenue
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Experience conducting leading-edge work and managing projects with creativity beyond standard
- Public speaking experience
- Ethics and honesty alignment with company standards
