Job Summary
Associate Portfolio Analyst, Venture Banking role at Live Oak Bank focuses on managing credit risk and loan quality for a specified client book. The role involves collecting and analyzing financial data, spreading financial statements, monitoring collateral, ensuring compliance with loan documentation, building forward-looking credit risk assessments through financial models, and distilling portfolio insights into underwriting guidance. The position supports onboarding of new clients, coordinating with loan officers, relationship managers, underwriting, and operations, and may lead discussions with client executives, equity sponsors, and partner lenders. It requires reviewing loan documents, assessing underperformance, and collaborating with internal partners to protect the bank’s interests while pursuing opportunities such as deposits or referrals. Strong communication, analytical, and collaboration skills are essential, along with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 3+ years in banking or credit risk-related work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience of 3+ years in a bank
- Strong customer service orientation with attention to detail
- Strong credit and risk management skills with working knowledge of lending policies and procedures
- Working knowledge of loan agreements, loan structuring, and collateral procedures
- Ability to consistently make timely sound recommendations to management while ensuring bank policies and procedures are met
- Uphold core values and build team member and customer relationships
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated experience utilizing credit software to capture credit applications; MS Office applications; ability to learn new software/systems
