Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional and responsible current and/or advanced planning work. May serve as staff support to one or more boards or commissions or provide project direction to others. Responsibilities include processing applications for new developments, site plan reviews, and special use permits; preparing written documents on planning matters; conducting research, data collection and analysis; reviewing development applications for compliance with tribal codes and standards; developing and maintaining automated tracking systems and records; independently managing assigned projects; and communicating effectively both orally and in writing to represent the Tribe professionally.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in urban or regional planning, public administration, environmental planning/studies, geography, natural resources, or a related field
- 2 to 4 years of experience with a planning consulting firm or local/regional government
- Familiarity with the principles and practices of urban planning, applicable state and federal environmental and planning laws, city policies, regulations, and codes relating to planning, zoning, and land divisions
- Excellent customer service skills, communication skills, and oral presentation skills
