Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs professional and responsible current/advanced planning work. Responsibilities include processing applications for new developments, site plan reviews, and special use permits; preparing planning documents and reports; conducting research and data analysis; reviewing development applications for compliance with tribal codes, policies, and standards; developing and maintaining filing systems; managing assigned projects with minimal supervision; and effectively communicating orally and in writing while representing the Tribe in a professional manner.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in urban or regional planning, public administration, environmental planning/studies, geography, natural resources, or a related field
  • 2 to 4 years of experience with a planning consulting firm or local/regional government
  • Familiarity with the principles and practices of urban planning, applicable state and federal environmental and planning laws, city policies, regulations, and codes relating to planning, zoning, and land divisions, and an understanding of the procedures and processes of a municipal planning division
  • Excellent customer service skills, communication skills, and oral presentation skills
