Job Summary
Payroll Associate to manage end-to-end U.S. payroll processing and coordinate international payroll with third-party vendors. Role requires 3–5 years of payroll experience, strong U.S. compliance knowledge, and effective liaison support between HR, Finance, and international payroll providers. Responsibilities include processing bi-weekly and semi-monthly U.S. payroll using UKG/Workday, reconciling timekeeping, administering benefits updates, maintaining records across states, ensuring compliance with federal, NYS, and NYC wage laws including NYC-specific leaves, and handling W-2s and year-end activities. For international payroll, serve as the primary internal liaison to outsourced vendors, validate inputs, review vendor reports, monitor SLAs, and ensure timely, accurate payroll across countries. Also support payroll reconciliation, respond to employee inquiries, prepare global payroll reports, and collaborate with HR and Finance on audits and process improvements. Requires strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and ability to work across time zones; preferred FPC/CPP certifications and exposure to equity compensation, shadow payroll, expatriate payroll, or cross-border mobility.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of payroll processing experience
- Hands-on experience with UKG, Deel, and or Workday preferred
- Multi-state U.S. payroll experience
- NYC compliance knowledge strongly preferred
- Experience with international payroll vendor or third-party provider
- Strong knowledge of federal, NYS, and NYC wage and tax laws
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data reconciliation)
- High degree of accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality with sensitive compensation data
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience)
