Job Summary
Greet, check in, and collect payments from patients and families while verifying insurance eligibility and benefits. Enter access data in real-time, process referrals and pre-authorizations, and generate price estimates. Identify outstanding balances and collect co-pays, then confirm appointments for services prior to discharge. Respond to inquiries compassionately and analyze patient data reports to follow up on inconsistencies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of registration requirements across admitting, emergency, maternity, and rehabilitation units. Full-time role with flexibility for 8-hour shifts, including occasional overtime and variable ED hours.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1+ years of customer service experience in a hospital, office setting, customer service setting, or phone support role
- Ability to work full-time including the flexibility to work occasional overtime given the business need
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time (10 to 12 hours) while using a workstation on wheels and phone/headset
- Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician office or any medical setting
- Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
- Experience in requesting and processing financial payments
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
- Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
