Job Summary
Associate Pastor of Ministry Operations will serve as a pastoral leader responsible for aligning ministries, people, systems, finances, and resources with the church’s mission. Working with the Lead Pastor and ministry directors, this role provides oversight of operations, financial stewardship, staff coordination, and strategic planning; shepherds people while stewarding organizational processes. Primary responsibilities include pastoral leadership, coordinating ministry planning and communication, developing organizational systems to reduce confusion, overseeing financial stewardship and budgeting for Bethel Baptist Church and Schaumburg Christian School, and leading staff coordination, governance, and volunteer development. The role also encompasses oversight of operational ministries such as Guest Services, Assimilation, Safety, Administrative Office Operations, Facilities Coordination, IT/technical systems, and leadership development. Requires adherence to biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership, a growing walk with Christ, affirmation of the church’s faith and bylaws, and a track record in budgeting and resource stewardship. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications
- Meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership described in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9.
- Demonstrates a growing walk with Jesus Christ and a clear calling to pastoral ministry.
- Fully affirms Bethel Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith, Church Covenant, and Bylaws.
- Possesses strong leadership, organizational, and relational abilities.
- Demonstrates wisdom, humility, emotional maturity, and sound judgment.
- Committed to the sufficiency of Scripture and the practice of biblical counseling.
- Able to work effectively with staff, volunteers, church leaders, and congregants.
- Preferred: Previous experience in pastoral leadership, church administration, executive leadership or a comparable ministry role.
- Preferred: Demonstrated competency in budgeting, financial oversight, organizational planning, and resource stewardship.
- Preferred: Experience overseeing complex ministry or nonprofit budgets.
- Preferred: Formal theological education (seminary degree preferred).
- Preferred: Experience leading teams, developing leaders, and implementing ministry systems.
- Preferred: Familiarity with church management software and ministry planning tools.
