Job Summary

Spiritually shepherd the congregation at Lee's Summit Campus by providing pastoral care, offering emotional and spiritual support during times of need, and counseling through discipleship. Oversee various ministry activities on Sunday mornings or Thursday evenings as requested, while mentoring key campus leaders across multiple ministries. Interact with the church body during services and announcements, and participate in weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly team trainings. Develop communication channels to address congregation needs and manage resources to support ministry vision. Requires three to five years of pastoral experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Abide daily in Christ (John 15:5)
  • Live for the mission and vision of Abundant Life as found in God's word (Matt 22:36-40; 1 Peter 5:1-4)
  • Become a member of Abundant Life Church
  • Three to five years of experience in a Pastoral role
  • Expertise in providing spiritual guidance
  • Expertise in building relationships and understanding the needs of others
  • Ability to identify and address disagreements between people
  • Knowledge of church operations and policies
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and respond to people's emotions in a supportive and compassionate way
  • Capacity to recognize, analyze, and address conflicts in a respectful and constructive manner
  • Proficiency in being attentive and understanding verbal and non-verbal cues
  • Ability to put oneself in another's shoes, feel their emotions and show understanding
  • Expertise in guiding and advising our church family through difficult issues or decisions
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage projects and tasks in a timely manner
  • Proficiency in interacting with people in a constructive and respectful manner
  • Capacity to guide and motivate congregations to act and achieve goals

Desired Qualifications

  • Participate in an Abundant Life group (Acts 2:41-42)
  • Participate in the discipleship ministry by completing D1 (Matthew 28:18-20)
  • Live in a way that glorifies God and aligns with the staff core values (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9)
  • Participate in evangelism training (Eph. 4:12) & giving to the needs of the saints (2 Corinthians 8:1-7 & 9:12)
  • Develop and implement necessary communication channels and processes to ensure needs are known and addressed, to include fully communicating to and through emails, texts, phone calls, mail and any other means necessary to show care and compassion to our body
  • Organizational Skills - Proficiency in managing, planning, scheduling, documenting, and follow-up
  • Emotional Intelligence - Ability to understand, interpret, and respond to people's emotions in a supportive and compassionate way
  • Listening Skills - Proficiency in being attentive and understanding verbal and non-verbal cues
  • Empathy - Ability to put oneself in another's shoes, feel their emotions and show understanding
  • Counseling - Expertise in guiding and advising our church family through difficult issues or decisions
