Job Summary
Nature Geoscience – Biogeochemistry: Associate or Senior Editor responsible for handling original research papers, coordinating with editors and peer reviewers, making editorial decisions, and contributing to content strategy. Responsibilities include commissioning and editing content such as Reviews or editorials, liaising with editors across Nature Portfolio, attending conferences and visiting research institutions, and identifying impactful studies in biogeochemistry, atmospheric chemistry, soil science, carbon/nutrient cycling, and related areas. Requirements include a PhD in a related geoscience field, strong communication and collaboration skills, ability to assess novelty and implications of research, and willingness to travel to engage with the international scientific community. Editorial experience is not required but encouraged, and applicants may be considered for Senior Editor positions. The role reports to the Chief Editor and is offered in Shanghai, Beijing, Milan, or Pune on a permanent basis.
Required Qualifications
- PhD (or equivalent) in geoscience
- strong understanding of geoscience topics and trends
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills (fluent English)
- ability to read and assess novelty, context and implications of research
- willingness to travel and engage with researchers worldwide
- editorial experience is not required but encouraged
