Job Summary
Associate or Senior Editor, Nature Catalysis. Permanent position based in Shanghai, Beijing, Milan, or Pune with a hybrid work arrangement. Responsibilities include handling original research papers, overseeing peer review, making editorial decisions, commissioning and editing content (Reviews, Perspectives, Comments, editorials), liaising with editors across Nature Portfolio journals and the wider scientific community, and attending conferences or visiting research institutions. Required: PhD or equivalent in catalysis or related field; strong communication and interpersonal skills in English; ability to assess novelty and implications of research; willingness to travel; editorial experience is welcomed but not required for Senior Editor. Applicants should demonstrate breadth of scientific interests and be capable of contributing to editorial strategy and content planning. Location flexibility supports a global Nature Catalysis team with multiple offices.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent qualification in catalysis or related field
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English
- Ability to read and assess novelty, context and implications of research
- Be eager to travel and engage with the scientific community
- Editorial experience not required but encouraged for Senior Editor consideration
- Willingness to contribute to content and strategy across Nature Catalysis and Nature Portfolio journals
- Ability to manage manuscript handling, peer review, and editorial decisions
- Experience with commissioning and editing content such as Reviews, Perspectives, Comments or editorials
- Demonstrated breadth of research interests beyond core specialty
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
