Job Summary
Primary responsibilities include performing and documenting safety analyses for systems and software, analyzing integration of complex airplane systems and their effects, documenting safety analyses and hazard mitigation to MIL-STD-882E, demonstrating hazard risk mitigation to customers and regulators, identifying systemic root causes and recommending corrective actions, collaborating with stakeholders to define and validate safety requirements, participating in tests to verify safety requirements, and resolving multi-functional technical issues. The role supports Boeing Global Services Safety for government (Defense) programs and involves safety analyses across multiple defense platforms (e.g., F/A-18, F-15, F-22, C-17, AH-64, CH-47, KC-135, KC-46) and related fleet sustainment and modernization activities. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years of related experience for Associate Level (2) or 5+ years for Experienced Level (3); preferred qualifications include MBSE experience and familiarity with safety standards MIL-STD-882E, FTA, FHA, and SAR, plus experience with avionics and aircraft systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with aircraft systems (e.g., navigation, avionics, fuel, hydraulics, pneumatic, etc.) including operations and troubleshooting
- Preferred Qualifications (Level 3): 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of aviation related system safety analysis methods (System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-tree Analysis, FHA, SAR)
- Experience with MIL STD 882E and MBSE
- Experience with aircraft systems including avionics, flight controls, hydraulics, fuel and integrated vehicle management systems
