Job Summary
Conduct investment screening, financial analysis, and modeling for the natural resources portfolio, including mining assets. Perform in-depth due diligence on potential investments, prepare investment recommendation memos, and execute transactions while participating in committee presentations. Monitor portfolio performance by interacting with management teams and conducting post-investment monitoring activities. Maintain industry expertise through networking, conference attendance, and deal-flow development. This role requires travel and involves working across Mining, Timber, Agriculture, and Investment Industries sectors.
Required Qualifications
- University degree with strong academic standing
- Professional designation: CFA
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in private investments, investment banking, consulting, corporate finance, equity research or in a natural resources company
- Experience and/or education in mining
- Excellent financial and analytical skills
- Project management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to demonstrate leadership and sound business judgement
- Mature, driven, motivated and ability to take initiative
- Responsible, diligent and able to work independently and as part of a team
- Good attention to detail and presentation of information
- Knowledge and interest in the mining, forestry and agriculture sectors
- Superior level of proficiency with business software and analytical tools
- Good communications skills in English and French (or willingness to learn)
- Note: This position requires travel
