Job Summary
The Associate Mortgage Underwriter supports underwriting and credit decision processes by reviewing documentation and applying due diligence, escalates inaccuracies or incomplete items, and maintains notes in the underwriting system. Builds and maintains relationships with mortgage brokers and external partners (mortgage insurers, appraisers, title insurance companies, solicitors), collects required documents to satisfy mortgage commitment conditions, and ensures documentation accuracy related to income, down payment, and the property in line with internal and regulatory guidelines prior to signing off on mortgage conditions. Adheres to AML requirements, responds within established turnaround times, and engages with the Mortgage Broker channel through the Third Party Residential Underwriting division to provide underwriting services for the Canadian market.
Required Qualifications
- Completed post-secondary education or equivalent work experience required
- Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment required
- Previous experience within Financial Services sector preferred
- Previous experience within Mortgage industry an asset
- Completion of Mortgage Agent Course is an asset
- Working with income, down payment and property documents including tax returns, business financials, investment statements, tax documents, purchase contracts etc.
