Job Summary
Welcome, greet, and engage all members and visitors, focusing on their safety, needs, and enrichment while processing membership paperwork, registrations, and miscellaneous services accurately. Handle and report incidents with staff and members, manage cash balances and receipts per outlined procedures, and educate members on policies and programs both in person and over the phone. Maintain a clean, organized front desk and lobby, record faulty equipment, and assist in recruiting new members, building volunteer capacity, and supporting fundraising events. Represent the YMCA in a professional manner, resolve inquiries by connecting to the correct personnel, and ensure Child Protection Policies are fulfilled. Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds; regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, members, potential members and program participants
- Reliable and consistent attendance
- Professional manner through a neat and clean appearance and proper attire as outlined in the membership dress code policy
- Friendly, engaging and professional manner when representing the YMCA and interacting with members
- Understanding and ability to abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the South Shore YMCA Employee Handbook
- Ability to build relationships with and among members
- Ability to respond to inquiries and resolve problems
- Ability to create a safe and supportive community environment
- Ability to assist in recruiting and engaging new members
- Ability to connect members to the YMCA's cause
- Ability to actively seek member/participant interaction and feedback
- Ability to give tours to prospective members
- Proficiency with all software utilized at the front desk
- Ability to ensure that the South Shore YMCA Child Protection Policies are fulfilled
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to regularly sit, stand; walk and talk and hear
- Ability to occasionally reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch
