Job Summary
Develop and document mechanical engineering designs and analyses, including technical data packages, test plans, and work instructions to support system development and production. Lead the development and modification of designs for mechanical, fluid, and thermal environment components while performing validation activities to confirm compliance with requirements. Manage supplier development and production activities, resolve non-conformance issues, and participate in Configuration Control Boards to manage engineering changes. Calculate return on investment for cost-reduction proposals and prioritize analysis tasks to meet project timelines. Provide technical oversight to junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams on new business development initiatives. This role supports the Integrated Air and Missile Defense portfolio, including the Patriot Advanced Capability 3 and Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense product lines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
- 2+ years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering related role
- Knowledge of aerospace structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes
- Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources
- Ability to digest functional requirements and apply them to the product
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment to produce high quality engineering products
- Active U.S. Secret Clearance
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
- Post-Start is required
Desired Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of Boeing Engineering Standards and Design Practices
- Basic understanding of GD&T concepts, practice and implementation
- Experience with thermal and vibration environmental testing
- Experience with stress, thermal and vibration/shock analysis
- Experience in supporting both full-rate production programs as well as fast-pace, rapid-development programs
- Strong ability to build trust and connection with the team and stakeholders
- Strong ability to model and inspire servant leadership style, and model seek, speak, and listen behaviors
- Flexibility, adaptability, and being comfortable with a highly dynamic and exciting work environment
- Experience using Boeing Common Non-Recurring Product Development (C-NRPD) or equivalent Boeing Development Processes
- Ability to produce and understand engineering drawings and 3-D Computer Aided Design models using NX and/or Creo
- Strong understanding of Finite Element Modeling techniques
- Experience with full Model Based Definition (CAD)
- Experience with 2D-Drawing authority programs
