Job Summary
Assist with the design and analysis of mechanical building systems, including HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, and temperature control systems for commercial, healthcare, and life sciences projects. Support the preparation of engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents while utilizing software to perform load calculations, energy analyses, and system layouts. Develop and revise design drawings using Revit, AutoCAD, and other platforms, and participate in field investigations, site visits, and existing conditions assessments. Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to review submittals, respond to RFIs, and conduct site observations. Contribute to client presentations and project deliverables while adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering or building systems design.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
- Familiarity with HVAC, plumbing, and building systems design principles.
- Working knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals and industry standards.
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior internship or co-op experience in consulting engineering or the built environment.
- Exposure to healthcare, higher education, commercial, laboratory, life sciences, or mission critical projects.
- Familiarity with engineering analysis software such as Trane Trace, HAP, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of ASHRAE, NFPA, International Mechanical Code (IMC), and related industry standards.
