Associate, Malaria Program

Job Summary
Collaborate with Ministry of Health and National Health Service staff to plan and implement evidence-based malaria elimination interventions in the Dominican Republic. Coordinate with local partners to monitor program execution, support data-driven decision-making through regular review meetings, and conduct site visits to community health workers and facilities. Provide technical assistance for entomological surveillance, vector control activities, and the development of training plans and standard operating procedures. Manage program-related administrative processes including budget preparation, vendor selection, and financial reporting while exploring new tools to accelerate elimination strategies. Represent CHAI in technical forums with government officials and partners to advance national priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience
- Acceptable fields of study/work include health-related disciplines, biology, entomology, community engagement and similar
- Experience living and working in resource-limited areas
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities
- Detail-oriented with strong organization skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and effectively set priorities
- Ability to be effective, patient and thoughtful in high-pressure situations
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong work ethic, integrity, credibility, and dedication to CHAI's mission
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships in a challenging environment
- Strong decision-making skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with data analysis tools
- Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Fluency in Spanish and English
- Availability to travel in-country 80% of the time
- Valid work authorization in the Dominican Republic
Desired Qualifications
- Fluency in Haitian Creole
- Advanced degree in public health, global health, epidemiology, biology, public administration, or business
- Experience implementing successful health projects, ideally malaria-specific projects and operational research
- Experience developing database systems and using statistical software for data analysis
- Experience with geospatial software
- Experience living and working in Latin America or the Caribbean, preferably the Dominican Republic or the broader Caribbean region
- Experience working with governments and institutions from Latin America
- Experience in working with malaria and/or other infectious diseases programs
