Job Summary
Responsible for handling a caseload of lower to moderate complexity litigation matters for insured customers and Travelers, including applying litigation and negotiation skills, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other documents under supervision, attending court events and depositions, providing case analysis and recommendations on file handling strategy, and maintaining strong internal/external client relationships. Work under mentorship of senior lawyers to develop litigation expertise, with travel as required. Must have Juris Doctorate and active license; 1-3 years of litigation experience; proficient legal writing and oral advocacy; strong communication and negotiation skills; ability to leverage technology and case management systems; and a collaborative, client-focused mindset.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate or equivalent International legal degree; graduate of an accredited law school
- Active license in good standing to practice law in the state(s) in which representation is required
- 1-3 years of litigation experience as a practicing attorney
- Persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills
- Proficiency in legal research tools & technology
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships with colleagues, customers, and business partners to deliver exceptional customer service
- Strong communication skills, sense of urgency, and responsiveness
- Demonstrates sound decision making and effective negotiation skills
- Flexible and agile mindset with a willingness to take on new challenges as needs evolve
