Job Summary
Oversee day-to-day operations of The Mother Church Reading Room by managing office administration, submitting work orders, and maintaining clean, organized spaces. Provide level-one technical support to staff and resolve technology issues while preparing for and facilitating weekly Agile team meetings. Serve ongoing weekly shifts handling visitor service, recommending Christian Science products, and answering questions about the faith with spiritual discernment. Contribute to reports, process improvements, and event coordination while upholding the mission and conduct standards of the Church.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred or 3-5 years previous experience in tourism/hospitality, retail or event planning
- Experience communicating about Christian Science to the public
- Experience in the Christian Science field (i.e., branch church work, Reading Room, etc.)
- Understand and deeply value the mission and goals of The Mother Church, the life and writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the history of the Christian Science movement, and the purpose of Reading Rooms
- Resilient, composed, and able to adapt to changing circumstances and changes of routine
- Detail-oriented, team-oriented, self starting, and likes a challenge
- Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task while meeting deadlines with little to no supervision
- Committed to providing a high-level customer experience
- Effective communication skills: verbal and written
- Able to handle monetary transactions with ease and accuracy
- Strong familiarity with both Mac and PC operating systems
- Provides basic technical assistance and troubleshooting as needed
- Proficient using the latest versions of Google Suite
- Must be available to work some evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed
- Must be able to carry items up to 20 pounds comfortably
- Membership in The Mother Church and Primary Class instruction preferred
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the following areas is desirable: communications, non-profit work, interfaith experience
- Experience with collecting and analyzing data preferred
- Familiarity and experience working with workflow management platforms; Agile preferred
- Current with technology trends. Experience with Trello, Point of Sale systems, databasing software, website platforms, Slack, and Adobe products is a plus
- The ability to learn new technology quickly and proficiently
- Patience, humility, intuition, openness to new ideas and new ways of communicating
- Flexible, compassionate, and a desire to serve in the spirit of doing whatever is necessary
- Master's degree preferred
