Job Summary
Link, configure, and load software builds on laboratory equipment suites while performing startup, checkout, and shutdown activities. Operate system consoles and simulators, monitor status, and troubleshoot operational issues using established procedures and diagnostic logs. Document system problems, actions taken, and observations; escalate unresolved issues to technical personnel. Assist laboratory users with system operation and test execution, maintaining configuration control and readiness throughout the shift. Provide clear turnover information to the incoming shift and coordinate with integration and software teams. Requires U.S. citizenship, Secret clearance eligibility, and a Bachelor's degree; second or third shift rotation from 4:00 p.m. to midnight or midnight to 8:00 a.m.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance or other required authorization within the timeframe specified by applicable contract requirements
- Ability to work on-site in laboratory environments during either: Second Shift: 4:00 p.m. to midnight, or Third Shift: Midnight to 8:00 a.m.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 0–2 years of experience in lab operations, software integration, system test, or software engineering
- Experience with Linux/Unix environments
- Foundational knowledge of computer systems, software installation, operating systems, and basic networking concepts
- Ability to follow documented technical procedures and accurately record completed actions and observed system behavior
- Basic proficiency in Python or similar scripting language
- Basic troubleshooting and problem-isolation skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently during assigned shifts while appropriately escalating issues when required
Desired Qualifications
- Exposure to distributed systems, networked computing environments, or system-of-systems architectures
- Familiarity with pub/sub messaging systems
- Experience supporting integration laboratories, test laboratories, data centers, operations centers, or other controlled technical environments
- Experience loading, configuring, starting, or maintaining software-intensive systems
- Familiarity with system consoles, simulators, remote terminals, or monitoring tools
- Experience collecting and reviewing system logs or diagnostic data
- Familiarity with issue-tracking and configuration-management processes
- Previous military, DoD, shipboard, watch-standing, or shift-operations experience
