Job Summary
Geologist/Hydrogeologist sought in Syracuse, NY to join an interdisciplinary team delivering site solutions for industrial/hazardous waste sites. Responsibilities include coordinating and performing environmental field tasks (soil, groundwater, sediment, air) with subcontractor oversight, preparing field documentation and work plans, data management, and assisting in technical evaluations. The role involves heavy field work (approximately 80%) with some overnight travel, collaboration with project managers, vendors, and clients, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Candidates should have a B.S. or M.S. in Geology or related discipline, up to 3 years of experience, a valid driver's license, and strong communication skills; OSHA HAZWOPER certification is a plus, and GIT eligibility and familiarity with ArcGIS/AutoCAD are advantageous.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology or related discipline
- 0 to 3 years of technical and field investigation experience
- A valid driver’s license
- Certification of completion of the OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER with a current 8 hour refresher is a plus
- GIT license or eligibility
- Working knowledge of MS Office; familiarity with ArcGIS and AutoCAD a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong attention to detail, quality, and safety
- Ability to perform field tasks and supervise subcontractors as needed
- Willingness to travel and perform approximately 80% field work with some overnight travel
- Experience with soil/groundwater sampling, soil excavation oversight, well installations/development, soil vapor/indoor air sampling
- Ability to work with field meters/test kits, instruments, pumps, data loggers
