Job Summary
Embed IP counsel within engineering, product, and commercial leaders to drive patent strategy, conduct FTO analyses, and surface monetization opportunities; lead strategic patent development, portfolio management, and coordination with outside counsel on drafting and prosecution; triage non-IP legal issues and provide business-focused IP guidance across BUs (including SiC materials, crystal growth, thermal management materials, and photonics); advise on licensing, SEP declarations, and cross-licensing opportunities; coach inventors, leverage AI tools for invention identification and portfolio analytics; support IP aspects of commercial agreements and M&A diligence; require JD, state bar admission, USPTO, and 6+ years patent law experience.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
- Admitted to at least one U.S. state bar
- USPTO registration
- Minimum 6 years of patent law experience
- Technical degree (BS required; MS or PhD strongly preferred) in materials science, chemistry, chemical or electrical engineering, applied physics, or related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in competitive claim drafting, FTO opinions, and patent monetization (SEP, licensing, or assertion)
