Associate General Counsel, In-House Attorney

Job Summary
Oversee negotiation, drafting, and execution of contracts for residential solar projects and manage litigation matters involving disputes and claims. Advise leadership on business development structures, identify operational risks, and develop internal policies to mitigate legal and financial exposure. Act as the primary liaison for external counsel, investors, and regulatory bodies while representing the company in industry forums and proceedings. Complete legal research projects and manage outside counsel effectively. Work flexible hours as required by business demands in a hybrid role in Orem, UT.
Required Qualifications
- J.D from an accredited U.S. law school
- A license to practice law from a U.S. state
- Minimum of 3+ years of legal experience

Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the residential solar industry or renewables
- Experience working in a high-growth solar energy or renewable energy company
- Prior in-house experience
- Capable of working across a wide variety of legal practice areas and with many non-lawyers across SunPower's various business units
- Familiarity with tax incentives, government subsidies, and policy-related issues affecting solar energy
- Backgrounds in areas such as transactional law, litigation, intellectual property, consumer finance, regulatory licensing and permitting, residential and commercial construction, employment law, renewable energy, securities laws and filings, capital markets, and public board governance
- In-depth understanding of solar energy market dynamics, federal and state regulations, and the energy industry's legal environment
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Experience leading and mentoring legal teams
- Strong business acumen
- Ability to complete legal and business research projects and other tasks quickly and thoroughly
- Effectively manage outside counsel
