Job Summary
Associate General Counsel at DCWP will oversee the General Counsel Division’s Affirmative and Licensing Litigation Unit, supervising attorneys litigating deceptive and fraudulent business practices, enforcing licensing laws across categories (e.g., used-car dealers, debt collectors, employment agencies), and providing legal counseling on licensing and enforcement to multiple divisions. The role includes managing investigations and trials before administrative tribunals and state court (including lead counsel duties), drafting legal documents, shaping enforcement priorities, and collaborating with communications and external affairs teams. The ideal candidate has strong writing skills, strategic planning experience, and the ability to lead a team of attorneys in a fast-paced city environment. The position offers remote work up to 2 days per week under the Flexible Work Pilot Program and is located in New York City with in-person duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- four years of recent full-time responsible legal experience after bar admission, eighteen months in supervision of other attorneys in administrative/managerial/executive capacity
