Job Summary
Embedded in-house Associate General Counsel in Southern California, partnering with the COO and executive team to handle a broad scope of healthcare regulatory compliance, physician contracts, employment law, and ASC governance. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating physician employment, independent contractor agreements, PSAs, and vendor/real estate/financing contracts; supporting M&A due diligence; advising on HIPAA, Stark Law, AKS, and California healthcare regulations; managing professional liability notifications; coordinating with external counsel on disputes; supporting regulatory changes; and assisting with corporate governance, licensing, and regulatory filings. Requires J.D. and California bar, 5–10 years of healthcare regulatory law experience, in-house or law firm background, and strong CA employment law knowledge; the role is hybrid-flexible in Southern California with travel to clinic/ASC sites as needed.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active California State Bar membership in good standing
- 5–10 years of legal experience (healthcare)
- Fluency in healthcare regulatory law (Stark, AKS, HIPAA)
- Experience with ASC or multi-site clinical operations (strongly preferred)
- Solid California employment law background (wage and hour, FEHA, FMLA/CFRA)
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and provide clear, direct advice
