Job Summary
Provide comprehensive care to ambulatory and hospitalized patients with liver disease while leading an impactful program of clinical and translational research. Expand the academic hepatology program by fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and directing investigator-initiated as well as industry-sponsored clinical trials. Complement existing strengths within the Toronto Centre for Liver Disease and develop emerging areas of academic excellence. This five-year appointment supports the Francis-Lecker Chair in Liver Research and offers a minimum annual income of CAD $350,000. Applicants must hold an MD degree and be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Applications are due by September 1, 2026, to the Director of the Toronto Centre for Liver Disease at Toronto General Hospital.
Required Qualifications
- Accomplished physician (MD or equivalent)
- Residency and subspecialty training in hepatology
- Demonstrated expertise in the management of acute and chronic liver disease
- Distinguished record of scholarly achievement in liver disease research
- Compelling vision for advancing and expanding UHN's dynamic, high-volume liver disease program, both clinically and academically
- Graduate degree (MSc, PhD, or equivalent)
- Established and impactful program of clinical and/or translational research
- MD degree, or equivalent
- Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent qualifications that would permit eligibility for practice in Ontario
- Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Proficiency in English
