Job Summary
Associate Fire Protection Technician-1 responsible for reviewing system layouts and coordinating with engineering, project management and sales for project execution; producing field surveys and daily project logs; programming, commissioning and final acceptance of complex fire protection systems by customers and AHJs; producing commissioning and inspection reports per NFPA; troubleshooting and resolution; delivering projects on schedule and within budget; programming systems via laptop; overseeing project inventory and vehicle inventory; providing guidance to other technicians. Must have experience in programming and commissioning, knowledge of fire protection codes, ability to read drawings, strong communication and project management skills, OSHA knowledge, and willingness to travel; physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, heights and ladders, and occasional overnight travel; background check and drug screening required; valid driver’s license and transportation available.
Required Qualifications
- Up to two years of experience in a technician role within the fire protection environment
- Ability to program and commission complex fire protection systems using a laptop computer
- Knowledgeable in fire protection code requirements
- Ability to read fire protection system design drawings
- Customer-focused, skilled in project and people management
- Ability to manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality
- Proficient in issue resolution
- Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills
- Knowledge of fire protection industry and product solutions
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and with a sense of urgency
- Be physically fit to perform the demanding work of the trade, including frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds, maximum occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; able to work from heights and climb ladders; standing and walking for most of the workday
- Ability to travel occasionally overnight, as needed
- Able to pass background check and pre-employment drug screening
- Valid driver’s license & reliable transportation
