Associate FinOps Engineer

Job Summary
Build and maintain Python data pipelines that ingest, normalize, and transform AWS CUR, Azure Billing Exports, and OCI billing data into unified cost datasets. Develop and support REST API endpoints and integrations between cloud billing systems, Databricks, and downstream dashboards for self-serve cost analysis. Partner with FinOps analysts to translate cost visibility requirements into engineering solutions and contribute to anomaly detection workflows including alerts and notifications via email and Microsoft Teams. Maintain materialized views, optimize queries, and develop LLM-based natural language query features with guardrails while keeping technical documentation current. Requires 2+ years of software engineering experience, proficiency in Python, and hands-on exposure to cloud billing data. Hybrid schedule mandates at least three days in the office in Louisville, Kentucky.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, or a related technical role
- Hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure billing data (CUR, Azure Billing Exports, or equivalent)
- Proficiency in Python, including building production-grade APIs, data pipelines, and integrations with cloud provider APIs
- Familiarity with data platforms such as Databricks or similar; experience writing and optimizing SQL queries against large datasets
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control (GitHub), and software development best practices (code review, testing, documentation)
- Must be able to work at least three days a week in the office
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) — FinOps Foundation, or equivalent hands-on FinOps experience
- Hands-on experience with cloud billing data (AWS CUR, Azure Billing Exports, OCI Billing Data and or FOCUS) and exposure to FinOps concepts
- Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) into production systems, including guardrail design and safety controls
- Exposure to ServiceNow workflow automation or Microsoft Teams bot/webhook integrations
